I know It’s a bit late to be writing about this, but a few weeks ago, I went to see James Cameron’s new filming venture, ‘Avatar’. The film took five years to make, and involved using multiple HD/3D cameras with two lenses built specifically for the film. ‘Avatar’ had an off-the-charts budget of half a billion dollars, spent on taking new leaps in filmmaking using an almost entirely CGI Set. People were scared. Could ‘Avatar’ succeed? Would it make a profit? Yes. As of this weekend, ‘Avatar’ grossed 1.02 billion dollars, a box-office-topping profit of 68.3 billion dollars.
This clearly shows that quality sells. A great movie like Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ deserves a strong box office outcome.

Lala

My friends, we have come to a paradigm shift in music listening. The same kind of shift that occurred when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPod, or the iTunes Music Store. Apple recently bought lala.com, a website with the same basic function and purpose as Apple’s iTunes, but with full song previews and cheaper song downloads. Lala moves music to the cloud, and mobilizes your library. When you sign up for free, you get to choose 25 songs that you can stream whenever you want, wherever you want in “Your Collection”. You can even take the songs that you have in your iTunes Library and “upload” them to your collection. Since Apple, inc. bought Lala.com for 17 Million dollars in cash and stock,(via crunchbase.com) I can see good things in the future for iTunes and the Music Store. I hope the price of songs will go down, and that the random 30 second previews will expand to full song. Maybe iTunes will have a browser based listening counterpart. A Lala.com iphone app?

Either way, I await what will come from this great new startup.

Rock on! ;-)

Working on theme

I’m making some changes, and getting a more light and happy theme. I think it is quite zen. Like me. Zen. Ahh…

Anyway, I am using a custom version of the Simpleboard 2.0 theme by Michel Da Cruz.

I’m messing with the colors, and adding some “call to action” buttons. I love tumblr because of it’s simplicity. That simplicity really carries over to the themes. So much easier to make and customize. No messy php. Blah. :)

Keep checking back, I hope there will be a nice product.

Just wondering-

What can I DO to make working with you more enjoyable?

Just wondering-

What do YOU look for when hiring a designer?
